Panerai P.2005/MR Hand-Wound Mechanical Movement

The P.2005/MR caliber features a tourbillon regulator and a unique three-chime time-sounding mechanism, striking the local or second time zone time every 10 minutes. Unlike traditional dual-chime designs, this mechanism uses a three-gong system to produce a melody indicating the time. The gongs are activated via an 8 o'clock button, striking against three gongs to produce distinct tones. The lowest tone signifies the hour, while the highest indicates the minute. Notably, the second gong chimes every 10 minutes, replacing the typical 15-minute interval. This decimal-based system simplifies time reading, similar to a jumping hour display. The three-chime mechanism can also indicate both local and second time zone times. The second time zone is displayed by a central arrow-shaped hand, with day/night indication at the 3 o'clock position. Switching between local and departure times is simple and secure, as the function can only be activated by slightly rotating the crown, marked with a black dot. The HT/LT (Home Time/Local Time) display shows the current time zone. To prevent misuse, the movement features four safety devices, and the case is designed with a special structure to enhance resonance.
